SAS Group News

Australian politics has been rocked in recent days by the resignation of not one, but two, Federal Greens Senators for failing to be eligible to hold Federal Office under the Australian Constitution.

Over the past weekend the Queensland Liberal National Party held its Annual Convention at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.

SAS Group Directors Larry Anthony and Malcolm Cole, along with SAS Group Consultant Mitchell Collier, all attended the three-day Convention.

Premier and Minister for the Arts

The Honourable Annastacia Palaszczuk

The Honourable Con Sciacca AO

On behalf of the Queensland Government, I wish to pay tribute to The Honourable Con Sciacca AO, who passed away in Brisbane yesterday, aged 70.

Con was the former Federal Member for Bowman and served as Minister in both the Hawke and Keating Governments across various portfolios including Arts and Veterans’ Affairs.

Con was a larger than life character who brought energy and vibrancy to any room he entered.

Brisbane-based strategic communications firm the SAS Group, founded by the late Hon Con Sciacca AO, has today welcomed to its ranks Mr Sciacca’s long time friend and protégé, former Labor MP and federal front bencher, the Hon Bernie Ripoll.

We at The SAS Group are devastated by the loss of our founding Chairman, our mentor, and our friend, The Hon. Con Sciacca AO. He was a political legend, an astute and successful businessman, and raconteur and a rascal. His death will leave a large hole in the Australian political landscape, but his achievements for the people of this nation will live on for a very long time. We will miss him terribly.

The SAS Group is your trusted partner for government, media and corporate engagement.
