South Australian election result
At the weekend South Australians headed to the polls and elected a new government, with Liberal leader Steven Marshall defeating Labor Premier, Jay Weatherill. The result brings an end to 16 years of uninterrupted Labor Government in South Australia, with the Liberal Party set to hold a small majority in the 47-member parliament.
Changes to the Federal Ministry
The Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has today announced changes to the Federal Ministry, following the election of Michael McCormack as Leader of the Nationals and his appointment to the Deputy Prime Ministership earlier this week.
Victorian Nationals MP Darren Chester returns to the Ministry as Minister for Veterans' Affairs, Minister for Defence Personnel and Minister Assisting for the Centenary of ANZAC - portfolios currently held by Mr McCormack.
Tasmania will head to the polls on March 3 to determine who will form the next State Government.
The Liberal Party – lead by Premier Will Hodgman – currently holds majority representing 15 out of a possible 25 seats. Labor will likely build on the seven seats they currently hold, however will need to win an additional six seats across Tasmania’s five electorates to gain power.
