The Inside Word
Celebrating 20 Years with The BUSY Group
January 2025 marks 20 years since Peter Costantini, Founding Director of the SAS Group, started advising The BUSY Group. What a privilege it has been to be part of their extraordinary journey of success. In the early days, BUSY was primarily an Apprenticeships Support Services provider, contracted by the Federal Government to operate in Queensland. The team numbered fewer than 40 people, when the then CEO, Vivienne Mallison, and the founding chairman of BUSY, Martin Punch OAM, asked Peter (who was yet to set up the SAS Group) to work on strategy to expand the apprenticeships service.
In 2007 (a young) Paul Miles (now the CEO) joined BUSY as the Corporate Services Manager. Paul was promoted to Managing Director in 2012, and has since applied his extraordinarily entrepreneurial spirit and skills to create a social enterprise organisation that really is one of Australia’s corporate success stories.
Today, BUSY operates across Australia, the United Kingdom and New Zealand. True to the founding vision, BUSY’s now 1,300 strong team strive to help more people into jobs, learn new skills, and exposure more communities to positive change, doing all of this in partnership with employers and industry.
BUSY is one now of Australia’s foremost providers of Apprenticeships Support Services, employment and disability employment and group training services. Recognising the immense challenges for young people who disengage from school, Paul his team have created 9 high schools in Queensland since 2020, and they are now taking their successful model international, opening their first school in New Zealand this year.
BUSY Managing Director Paul Miles shared his reflections on this time working together noting, “Our growth in recent years has been extraordinary, and it’s been a joy going on that journey with Peter and the SAS Group at our side. Peter’s honest and direct advice has been integral in our strategic planning throughout the years and is a major reason for our success, our growth and our ability to impact so many lives through BUSY. We look forward to many more years working together and coming up with new ideas to make the positive changes in communities across the world through Education, Employability and Skills development”.
This is one of the many joyful client stories the SAS Group has supported over the years and we are indeed honoured to have been a part of their amazing journey.
