BUSY Group Launches Its Ninth School in Queensland

The BUSY Group recently opened its ninth specialised assistance school in Queensland, provide an opportunity for more students in years 11 and 12 who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging from their education to re-engage with it. 

The BUSY School’s new Ipswich campus has a maximum capacity of 256 students, with enrolments increasing daily as word spreads of the pathway for students in the Ipswich catchment area. 

Supported by federal and state funding, the BUSY School’s outcome-focused model enables students to complete their education while getting a head start on employment through vocational training pathways. The Ipswich campus is already engaging with local businesses to connect students with career opportunities once they gain their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE). 

More than 70 per cent of The BUSY School’s students successfully achieved their QCE. Without this opportunity, many of these students would have slipped through the cracks and dropped out of school.

The BUSY Group is a not-for-profit organisation that delivers a range of employment services, apprenticeship support and vocational skills training across Australia. 

The SAS Group has worked with The BUSY Group for almost a decade, during which we’ve formed a successful partnership. It’s been particularly rewarding to facilitate engagement between The BUSY Group’s executives, Members of Parliament and other key stakeholders, especially when we visit campuses and meet students who are gaining the skills and confidence to transition to employment. 

Federal Member for Blair, the Hon Shayne Neumann, officially opened The BUSY School’s new Ipswich campus, celebrating the milestone alongside the school’s principal, staff and students (many of whom come from diverse and sometimes disadvantaged backgrounds).

Shayne spoke about meeting the BUSY Group’s Managing Director, Paul Miles, many years ago, and subsequently following the Group’s progress and success. He also praised the support of the local community in the establishment of the Ipswich campus, and said he looked forward to the seeing the school’s positive impact in the region.
