The Inside Word

Stepping out and stepping up

The start of the financial year is always an exciting time for business, with hopes of strong performance and growth in the coming 12 months.

For us at the SAS Group this new financial year is a particularly exciting one, as we have just undergone a significant change in our ownership structure, with several of our senior staff taking the bold step of investing in the business and becoming shareholders.

Alongside the three foundation shareholders – our Chairman Larry Anthony, Founding Director Peter Costantini and me (via a merger some years ago) – we now have seven other senior team members with a financial interest in the SAS Group.

I’m excited about this because it represents a generational shift in the business, and a huge financial commitment and vote of confidence by the senior personnel.  For clients, it means greater certainty and stability around your relationships with key SAS Group personnel.

As part of the restructure, our original Managing Director Peter Costantini (who lodged the paperwork to register the company with ASIC on 1 July, 16 years ago) has stepped back from full-time work.

Peter will still be around to support clients and our colleagues as needed, and no doubt you’ll see him at our functions and events.  So, his talent and wisdom is not lost to us altogether.

Nonetheless, it’s an appropriate time to acknowledge Peter’s hard work and commitment to the SAS Group and to our clients over the past 16 years, and the great results he has delivered in so many areas.  We’ll miss Pete’s presence around the office, but our loss is his grandchildren’s gain.

I hope the financial year ahead is successful and prosperous for you, what ever your activities. And please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us if we can help you with your advocacy and communications goals.
