Shayne Sutton

Associate Director

Shayne is a government relations specialist with more than 20 years’ hands-on experience in senior government roles. She has a wealth of experience in governance, public policy, community engagement, public sector finance and the delivery of major infrastructure, particularly in the local government sector. Shayne served as an elected councillor on Australia’s largest local government, the Brisbane City Council, for 13 years, and is well known and regarded amongst her former colleagues on Council. Most recently, Shayne was the Manager, Intergovernmental Relations & Special Projects at the Local Government Association of Queensland (LGAQ). Prior to that role, Shayne was the Executive Manager of the Northern Queensland Regional Organisations of Councils, and was a non-executive director of the Townsville Hospital and Health Service. Shayne began her political career as an advisor to former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and served as a senior policy specialist in the Beattie Government. Her reputation for forthright advocacy, skilled negotiation, and ability to work effectively with a diverse range stakeholders enables her to drive major projects, policy and legislative changes with a pragmatic and diplomatic approach. Shayne holds a Bachelor of Arts (majoring in political science and public administration) and a Bachelor of Commerce with Honours from Griffith University, and a Graduate Certificate in Project Management from Queensland University of Technology. She is also a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors
