The Palaszczuk Government has announced a $1 billion redevelopment of the Gabba and surrounding transport infrastructure which will be the centrepiece and host of the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2032 Olympics as part of its bid.

The Member for Stretton, Duncan Pegg MP, announced his resignation from Parliament due to his ongoing battle with cancer. This will cause a by-election to be held in the next few months, however the seat should be easily retained by the government as it’s on a margin of 14.8 per cent.
Tasmanians will go to the polls this Saturday and all indications are that Premier Gutwein’s Liberal Government will be returned in majority or minority government. Tasmanian Labor shot itself in the foot immediately as the campaign started with internal fights, preselection battles becoming public, and the state president threatening to sue the Opposition Leader Rebecca White. Tasmania has three key marginal seats, some of which Labor must win at the federal election due next year if it is to form government.
