The SAS Group will provide updates on the COVID-19 outbreak in Australia, including updates on Government and Department of Health announcements, travel and flight bans, and general media.

The Federal Government announced an additional COVID-19 specific support package of $205 million for residential aged care providers, and the Queensland Government has announced the first steps allowing children to return to school.  

In Victoria, the Government has announced further support for pubs, clubs and restaurants and other Victorian businesses doing it tough, and the Government of Western Australia will fast-tack payments to supplies to boost local businesses.

In South Australia, more than 1000 small businesses and not-for profits impacted by COVID-19 will receive an emergency cash grant from the Government, and the Northern Territory Government has established a Tourism Rebound Taskforce for industry recovery.

MEDIA STATEMENT: New COVID-19 payment to keep senior Australians in residential aged care safe
Federal Government

Residential aged care providers will benefit from an additional COVID-19 specific support package totalling $205 million under targeted measures announced today by the Morrison Government.

It takes the total COVID-19 specific Federal Government funding for aged care to more than $850 million.

Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has announced the first steps allowing Queensland children to return to school.

The Premier said a sensible, gradual return is only possible because of Queensland’s success in slowing the spread of COVID-19.

MEDIA STATEMENT: Fast-tracked payments to boost local businesses
Government of Western Australia

The Department of Finance will fast-track payments to suppliers for invoices of under $1 million as part of a new initiative that will provide additional support for Western Australian businesses during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Department of Finance will pay invoices of under $1 million to businesses within 20 days, rather than the current 30-day term.

More than 1000 small businesses and not-for-profits impacted by COVID-19 restrictions will receive a one-off $10,000 emergency cash grant this week – some as early as today.

It's part of the Marshall Liberal Government’s strong plan to sustain jobs and local businesses throughout the economic crisis.

The Territory Labor Government has established a Tourism Rebound Taskforce made up of national experts to provide strategic and practical advice on a potential recovery roadmap for the local tourism industry which has been hard hit by COVID-19 measures.

MEDIA STATEMENT: Supporting more Victorian businesses doing it tough
Victorian Government

The Victorian Government is providing more support for Victorian businesses affected by the coronavirus pandemic to get to the other side of the crisis.

Last month, the Government announced a $1.7 billion Economic Survival Package for the hardest hit businesses and workers who required urgent and immediate support. The package included payroll tax refunds worth $550 million and the $500 million Business Support Fund.
