31st October 2019

In between my roles at the SAS Group, I find my time going in fits and bursts with my National Party duties. In the last month I criss-crossed the country, not just in Canberra, but to Tasmania with Senator Susan McDonald, and over to Western Australia for the WA Nationals State Conference.

The WA conference was held in Exmouth, the most westerly point of Australia, near the old US naval communication base, which was at its peak relevancy during the Cold War years. I also had the opportunity to appreciate the enormous contribution by the resources industry.

Back on the east coast, I caught up with Deputy Premier John Barilaro and Minister Bronnie Taylor at the Nationals 100-year celebration in Sydney. I am always amazed at the scale of Australia and the breadth of industry, but at the same time, as I flew across the continent, I was reminded that the drought is all pervasive.
