In early 2017, the SAS Group partnered with the Rural Press Club of Queensland (RPC) to assist with event management, sponsorship and marketing, and membership management.
One of our roles is to help organise the guest speaker for each month’s event, and in May we were pleased to help secure the Hon. Barnaby Joyce MP, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Agriculture and Water Resources.
More than 250 guests heard the Deputy PM outline the details of the the 2017-18 Federal Budget and what it means for rural Australia – in particular, rural Queensland.
He restated the Coalition’s commitment to the Inland Rail project connecting Brisbane to Melbourne and turning this vision into a reality, as well as addressing urgent rural issues such as white-spot disease in seafood, fences to protect farm animals against wild dogs, and water infrastructure.
Mr Joyce said he was committed to ‘getting stuff done’, and that Queensland should be proud of what the State produces in the Ag space.
Next month, the Club will welcome National Farmers’ Federation President, Fiona Simson to give an insight into the current opportunities and challenges facing the Australian Farming Sector.
