Following the resignation of Transport and Commonwealth Games Minister, Stirling Hinchliffe on Monday, Premier Palaszczuk has today announced a minor reshuffle within her cabinet.

Deputy Premier, Jackie Trad has been appointed the Transport Minister with immediate priorities to fast-track the Strachan Blueprint for Queensland Rail and progress the Cross River Rail Project. In a media statement released this morning, Premier Palaszczuk said she needed the Deputy Premier’s ‘experience and toughness’ to ensure the best possible outcome for this role.

Education, Tourism and Major Event’s Minister, Kate Jones, will take on the Commonwealth Games portfolio; a role she was originally appointed to in 2015 before it was handed to Stirling Hinchliffe.

A number of small changes were also made; the full redistribution of portfolios include:
