On the 19th August, NSW Premier the Hon. Mike Baird, announced his Government’s Jobs for the Future report, which outlines how the NSW Government plans on reaching their target of creating one million additional jobs by 2036.
This report, which included some of the most extensive research ever undertaken in NSW on job growth, includes 20-year priorities and 19 initial three to four year actions, some of which are already underway.
The Premier announced a number of financial support programs from the $190 million Jobs for NSW fund which were based on the priorities identified in the report that will:
- Help fast-growing, small-to-medium companies access funds needed to grow jobs. This will be assisted by a $50 million loan guarantee program and a $3.5 million direct loan pilot program;
- Assist start-up companies by setting aside $10 million to grow the State’s network of incubators and accelerators, and $3 million in 2016-17 for direct grants to start-ups;
- Grow regional companies with a dedicated $30 million program; and
- Encourage large and international companies to base their headquarters in NSW through use of a $30 million fund.
