On September 14, 2015 Malcolm Turnbull strode into a press conference in a Parliament House courtyard and uttered the following line: “We have lost 30 Newspolls in a row, it is clear that the people have made up their mind about Mr Abbott’s leadership”. This was of course one of the benchmarks that Mr Turnbull outlined to justify toppling Tony Abbott as Prime Minister.
Cricket's crisis comms in a spin

The sad affairs surrounding the Australian Cricket Team in South Africa have consumed more than enough air time and column centimetres in recent days, and most Australians are probably ready to move on. However, before we do, it’s worth reflecting on the communications efforts of Cricket Australia in the midst of the crisis.
South Australian election result
At the weekend South Australians headed to the polls and elected a new government, with Liberal leader Steven Marshall defeating Labor Premier, Jay Weatherill. The result brings an end to 16 years of uninterrupted Labor Government in South Australia, with the Liberal Party set to hold a small majority in the 47-member parliament.
Changes to the Federal Ministry
The Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has today announced changes to the Federal Ministry, following the election of Michael McCormack as Leader of the Nationals and his appointment to the Deputy Prime Ministership earlier this week.
Victorian Nationals MP Darren Chester returns to the Ministry as Minister for Veterans' Affairs, Minister for Defence Personnel and Minister Assisting for the Centenary of ANZAC - portfolios currently held by Mr McCormack.
Michael McCormack elected leader of The Nationals and Deputy Prime Minister
Michael McCormack has been sworn in as Australia’s new Deputy Prime Minister, following his victory in a leadership ballot of the Federal Nationals this morning in Canberra.
It follows a turbulent few weeks for the party and the Turnbull Government, which culminated in Barnaby Joyce announcing last Friday that he would stand down as Nationals leader.
